oil on stretched linen: this self portrait was an exploration of my inner world--my psyche. While it exposes my desire to express those parts of myself that have been rejected and repressed it also leaves room for the unknown. The character standing next to my portrait is an unknown, unrecognizable entity much like that of my subconscious--it is there, influencing but also untouchable and unknowable.
